House C.A.L.

Written by Anne-Marie den Hertog in

This sophisticated apartment with its soft neutral tones has been designed by Studio Oink. A few years ago this former 1960s furniture store was bought by an architect, who divided it into two apartments and an office space. The apartment had an open floor plan and a very high ceiling, and the owners felt slightly lost in its space. They asked Studio Oink to help them make it feel welcoming and homely.

Studio Oink completely redesigned the apartment, using a clever curtain system to divide the space into smaller sections and providing furnishings and ornaments, giving a much more sheltered and intimate atmosphere. Classical furniture, like Butterfly Chairs, complements vintage pieces beautifully, and the wooden surfaces create a natural feeling, enhancing the 1960s ambience of the architecture. We think they did a wonderful job turning the apartment into a bright and airy space with a wonderful play of shadows and light.

Lea Korzeczek and Matthias Hiller founded Studio Oink in October 2013, and continue as creative directors at its new studio in Leipzig. They strive to balance poetry and function, simplicity and playfulness, and they certainly succeeded with House C.A.L.
