A celebration of serenity by NORM Architects

Written by Anne-Marie den Hertog in

At first glance, Fredensborg House looks like a quintessentially minimalist interior design project. But peer deeper beyond the clean lines and whitewashed walls and you’ll find plenty more going on. From the imaginations of NORM Architects, this stunning building makes itself known with an impressive exterior, dominated by dark awnings, black window frames and weathered brickwork.

Inside, the building takes on a whole new dimension, with a surprising amount of square footage that evident from the outside. The kitchen quite literally serves as the heart of the home, occupying a central location that provides easy access from almost any room on the same level. This area is also partly concealed from the rest of the house, ensuring residents can cook away in peace without the worry of guests looking in on clutter and culinary chaos.

The lower floor of the property is dominated by the spacious living area, a master bedroom and dining area, all decorated in a neutral theme with accents of black, grey and brown punctuating the plain palate that NORM Architects have opted for. Incredible attention to detail has been paid to even the tiniest of elements and consistency is key, eliminating clashes of colour and materials to create a real sense of serenity throughout.
