60 Stool

The Artek 60 three-legged stool is another example of Alvar Aalto’s close collaboration with birch and demonstrates his ability to create smooth, curved wood surfaces. The iconic stool 60 by Alvar Aalto is the most elementary piece of furniture and is also suitable as a seat, table, wardrobe or exhibition space. The legs are mounted directly to the underside of the round seat, without any complicated connecting elements. Thanks to its geometry, the stool can be stacked in a spiral tower sculpture to save space. Produced in 42 production stages at factory A in Turku, Finland, stool 60 is available in a variety of colours and designs.
