The Vitra Tip Ton chair in the design of Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby defines a new chair typology: the all-plastic chair that can be tilted forward. The lively design and the powerful, lively colours give rooms a positive energy. Its name indicates the characteristic double sitting experience – the design chair Tip Ton can be tilted forward from the normal position, where the chair stops tilted by a few degrees. The tilted forward sitting position, previously reserved for mechanical office chairs, straightens the pelvis and backbone, thus improving blood circulation to the abdominal and back muscles. So you automatically sit straighter.

ETH Zurich, one of the world’s leading technical universities, conducted a study in 2010 to investigate the health-promoting properties of an additional prone seating position. The results show increased muscle activity in the abdominal and back area, which improves the oxygen supply to the body. For the first time, the Tip Ton chair from Vitra combines these properties in the form of a robust plastic chair and makes them available at many new locations.

The Tip Clay is made of polypropylene and is manufactured from a single mould without any mechanical components. This makes the chair extremely durable and 100% recyclable. Tip Ton is stackable up to four chairs and is available in eight different colours.
