Simbiosi Pendant Lamp
The Simbiosi Pendant Lamp was designed by Sarah Frattini for Davide Groppi. It is reminiscent of a chandelier, and Simbiosi is concerned with rethinking the idea of a chandelier. However, this special kind of chandelier allows the user to reassemble the chandelier according to his own aesthetic taste. It is a kind of magic trick that allows diodes to be connected in series with very weak electrical currents to obtain virtually invisible wires. All in all, the pendant lamp Simbiosi appears weightless and almost unimaginable.
The very thin red wire that connects the light sources and correlates them is the main component of this project. It represents the synthesis of this poetic vision.

Designer Davide Groppi was born in Piacenza, Italy. In 1988 he began designing lamps in a small studio. The small studio has become a real company. In 2014 he won the Italian Design Award “Compasso d´Oro”. His comments on the aesthetics of light can be found here (Italian with English subtitles):
