A monochrome colour palette tends to divide opinion, but handled right and it can immediately elevate any space to new heights. This turn of the century Stockholm apartment is a prime example of the latter.

This airy apartment has plenty of stylish signatures, including hardwood floors and tall ceilings, but it’s in the finer details that this space really shines through. Whitewashed walls help give the illusion of even more space, while low-mounted artwork and frames heighten the allure of the headroom. A simple colour palette of blacks, browns and neutral shades ensure even the busiest of areas don’t feel overloaded or crowded by fixtures and furnishings.
There’s also plenty of designer flourishes, with simple fixtures swamped out for slick designer pieces. The AIM pendant lights designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for Flos are one such finishing touch, adding all the illumination the space needs. Here, cables have been embraced, utilising them as an extension of the aesthetic, rather than unnecessary clutter.
