Kreuzstich

Eva Marguerre and Marcel Besau from STUDIO BESAU-MARGUERRE don’t just have a flair for smashing interior design. Their portfolio is also full of visual communications, editorial design and styling. Just like this example of ‘Kreuzstich’ (cross stitch), which has been featured in Living at Home.

For many of us, school needlework lessons were a long time ago. So, if you need a reminder, cross stitch is an embroidery technique where threads are pulled through the fabric in a pattern of cross-shaped stitches. Does this sound a bit like Grandma’s crochet doilies? Don’t worry, it’s not. Eva Marguerre and Marcel Besau show just how versatile cross stitch can be. You can use it to add colour to your furniture and kitchenware, create patterns on carpets and cushions or make pictures to frame on the wall. And what’s the best thing about cross stitch? Many of these ideas are very easy to make!

Who dares?
