Vintage Botanical Prints

Written by Olivia Janssen in

Vintage botanical prints are skyrocketing. We all remember seeing them hanging on the walls during dull biology lessons, but now they’re hot items and an easy way to bring a touch of nature indoors.

During the 18th and 19th centuries, botanical illustration was the best method of recording scientific details of the new plant species being discovered by explorers. This became known as the Golden Age of Botanical Art and watercolour illustrations from this period form the basis of many popular prints.

You can achieve the vintage botanical look with wallpaper or antique prints as well as copying drawings or plates from books to create framed collections. Look for these treasures in flea markets, antique shops or on second-hand websites.
